City Center DC
City Center DC, the redevelopment of the old DC Convention Center site is progressing nicely in downtown Washington, DC. The project broke ground April 4, 2011 and promises to bring a lot of activity to the area. According to their website the 10 acre site will be home to 458 apartments, 216 condominiums, an abundance of retail and restaurants, 1.5 acres for a park and plaza, and office space.
The project is being developed by Hines and Archstone and is slated to be completed by 2013. While no official tenants have been announced, it has been rumored that there will be an upscale gym and a trendy restaurant concept from New York. All of the tenants will add to the already restaurant filled area. Acadiana, 901 Restuarant, Againn, and Capital City Brewery are just some of the local eateries that may benefit from the project.
The two tower condominium of City Center DC, “The Residences At City Center” has been designed by the renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners. Featuring European kitchens, built in European wardrobes and sleek baths. All of the condos will feature outdoor space which span from Juliet balconies, a full balcony or in some select units, a full private terrace which is rare in the downtown real estate market. Floor-to-ceiling windows will open up the units to sun and the surrounding city life below.
The sales center is now open with unit scheduled to deliver fall 2013.
We look forward to seeing the progress and will bring you updates periodically.
