Bloomingdale is a mostly residential neighborhood located in the heart of DC. Consisting mostly of row houses built in the 1900s, Bloomingdale has undergone a significant revitalization in recent years. Beyond the renovations of individual row houses, the area has seen many multi-unit developments. One of the most notable, Parker Flats, was developed in the former Gage School Building with 92 units.
The area has also seen a surge of new business including retail, restaurants, a yoga studio, and theatre. In the summer there is a farmer’s market that runs from 10 am until 2 pm on Sundays.
Bloomingdale is desirable to college students as well. The neighborhood is in close proximity to most DC universities, especially Howard, Trinity and Catholic.
